To plan, register, prepare, and ride with Devo. Devo is an age-based, community-centered mountain bike development program dedicated to sharing the love of riding mountain bikes.
This is a NEW camp in partnership with 4 Corners Riversports combining mountain biking with Devo, and kayaking with 4CRS! Various camps are offered for campers ages 8-14. In the morning, kids will meet at 4Corners Riversports ready to ride bikes. They will commute via the river path to local trail systems as a team, and ride town singletrack each morning. Coaches will teach the kids to commute safely, and practice good etiquette of riding as a team, while also introducing playful skills that’ll help your child become a more confident mountain biker. Each ride will depart and end at 4Corners Riversports, where the kids will be able to leave lunchboxes and return for picnic lunches before preparing for their afternoon on the water. After lunch, groms will switch out their bikes for paddles and join 4Corners Riversports Paddle School! Youth river skills class is perfect for kids who want to get on the water in all types of crafts, and get an introduction to whitewater skills! This class will cover the basics of reading water, river hydrology, river safety, whitewater swimming, and more. Each day will be a new watercraft and will give the kids the chance to experience all the different ways to enjoy time on the water! This class is 5 days and 8 hours daily, split between biking and paddling. For the whitewater portion, all the necessary gear, transportation, and instructors are included. Kids must have their own mountain bikes and helmets for the riding portion.
Riders should be comfortable riding on singletrack trails with some elevation change. Riders must provide their own bikes and riding equipment (or apply for a scholarship!). Bikes with hand brakes and gears are required. At least front suspension is preferred, but not required. Wheels should be 24 inches or bigger. For the kayaking portion of the class, paddlers do not need any kayaking experience. Campers can bring their own gear, but 4Corners can also provide all kayaking gear required. Paddlers should know how to swim.
The main goals of the Peddle/Paddle camps with Devo and 4CRS is to inspire students about the many amazing ways we have to recreate outside in Durango. Through cycling and kayaking, we aim to build team camaraderie, and a fundamental understanding of the sports. Campers will come away with foundational MTB and kayaking knowledge that will inspire them to learn more about both sports!
Parents should not attend practices. We believe riders learn and grow most when they can attend practice without their parents!
Each summer camp runs for 5 consecutive days (Monday – Friday). Camps are full day, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Practices will meet at 4Corners Riversports. Campers will ride with Devo in the morning, and kayak with 4CRS after lunch. We allow up to 10 riders per camp.
*Registration for ’24 Summer Camps opens on March 29 at 10am*
