*NEW FOR 2025* Summer Shred Weeks!

JR DEVO SUMMER SHRED WEEKS (AGES 9-12)

Purgatory’s bike park being closed isn’t going to stop Jr. Devo from shredding on bikes this summer!

For riders ages 9-12 looking to develop their skills on the slopes, our new Summer Shred Week camps offer a full week of riding, skill development, and fun, all in the company of a great group of friends and dedicated Devo coaches. Transportation to and from a variety of fun destinations (in-town adventure rides, mid-country “van shuttle” rides, skills parks, and a Friday Field Trip to the high country) is included. We’ll meet at the Rec Center each day and finish there each afternoon.

A note on our “Advanced” Week (Jul 14-18): This advanced camp is designed for experienced Devo riders who have already completed a regular Devo season (fall and/or spring), and who have received a coach recommendation for this camp. Riders should be prepared for longer rides, and very challenging trails and features. Questions? Email Aubrey (aubrey@durangodevo.com).

Requirements

Riders should have at least one full season of riding MTBs on blue trails. Mountain bikes with at least front suspension, disk brakes, and gears are required. Wheel size must be 24 inches or bigger. Riders should be excited to explore advanced terrain and tackle steep descents. Full-face helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves are highly encouraged.

Goals

The main goals of our Summer Shred Weeks are to introduce riders to the skills involved in downhill riding, and to enjoy some new trails and adventures with friends! Riders will work on fundamental descending and technical riding skills.

Parent Participation

Parents should not attend practices. We believe riders learn and grow most when they can attend practice without their parents!

Team Format

Each summer camp runs for 5 consecutive days (Monday – Friday). Camps are full day, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Practices will meet at the Durango Rec Center, with transportation to the day’s location(s) and back provided in Devo’s vans. We allow up to 12 riders per camp.
