July 31, 2024 – Durango Devo is seeking a passionate, motivated, and professional leader with knowledge and experience in non-profit leadership, financial oversight, fundraising and relationship building, and strategic planning and decision-making. Reporting directly to the Devo Board of Directors, the Executive Director will work to provide oversight and leadership for all aspects of Durango Devo’s mission and programming. 

Responsibilities Summary

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and Devo staff to carry out the mission and purpose of Durango Devo. Generally, the Executive Director will:

  1. Collaborate with the Devo Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to actualize business objectives;
  2. Collaborate with the Board Treasurer and oversee the Accounting team to ensure Devo’s financial health, transparency, and sustainability;
  3. Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees and volunteers who can lead critical departments and manage strategic functions;
  4. Monitor operations and ensure employees, volunteers, and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements;
  5. Develop and maintain Devo’s organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout the organization;
  6. Develop partnerships with Devo’s stakeholders, members, industry regulators, and other relevant parties;
  7. Identify and mitigate potential risks and opportunities within Durango Devo and its environment to protect Devo’s strategic interests;
  8. Identify and capitalize on potential sources of investment and organize fundraising efforts;
  9. Represent Durango Devo at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the Devo brand and communicate Devo’s messaging priorities.

Compensation and Time Commitment

This is a full-time, overtime-exempt, salaried position. The starting salary range for the Executive Director is $60,000-$70,000 per year, paid monthly. The Executive Director is eligible to receive a Benefits Allowance Stipend of up to 12% of the base salary. This position is eligible for year-end bonuses for excellent performance.

Time demands will vary throughout the year, but will average 40 hours per week. Expect to occasionally exceed 40 hours per week during peak operating seasons. The Executive Director may set their own working schedule and office hours and may work remotely, but must be available in person to help with key events, programs, and trips. 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience and/or education in non-profit or executive leadership is preferred.
  • Experience with fundraising, grant-writing, and event planning and coordination is preferred.
  • Strong, compassionate leadership skills are a must.
  • Strong computer skills are required. Specifically, proficiency or the ability to quickly learn and utilize Adobe design products including InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Quickbooks Online, GSuite products, and more.
  • WordPress web design experience, or the willingness and ability to learn, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
  • A passion for cycling and youth development is a must!
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Pass routine background and reference check.
  • Clean driving record.
  • 3-year commitment to the position.
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to Durango, CO or the surrounding area.
