Durango Devo is thrilled to partner with Tailwind Nutrition, one of our longest-standing sponsors, on this youth art contest. Tailwind is a Durango-based company whose founder was inspired to get outside and play hard — and wasn’t about to let bad nutrition get in the way. Born in Durango in 2012, Tailwind has been churning out the best Endurance, Recovery, and Hydration drink mixes around for cyclists and all athletes.

Devo and Tailwind share many passions, but at the forefront in this contest are a shared love of the outdoors, cycling, and nurturing creative expression in our youth. We encourage all area youth to share their inspiration and creativity with us through this fun and exciting contest!

CONTEST RULES:

Who can enter: All Durango area school-age youth (grades K-12) may participate. The contest is NOT restricted to Devo riders.

Medium: Each entry must be an original work of art in a two-dimensional format with a 1:3 height to width ratio (roughly the size of a sheet of printer paper folded into three, like you’re going to stuff it in a business envelope). Simple, graphical illustrations are best for water bottle designs. Pencil, pen, marker, crayon, paint, digital art are ideal.

Subject requirements: Entries must include at least ONE (but all three encouraged) of the following themes:

  1. Tailwind (be creative with your interpretation of this)
  2. Durango Devo
  3. Bicycles (any and all types of bikes are encouraged)

All entries must include either (a) Tailwind and Devo logos or names within the artwork; or (b) dedicated blank space for each logo to be digitally added later for bottle printing

Limitations: One entry per contestant. Families with multiple children may submit an entry for each young artist.

Deadline: Contest closes on Thursday, February 29

Judging: Grand prize winner will be selected by Tailwind Nutrition and notified by email or Instagram message (depending on entry method)

Awards: The winning piece of artwork will be printed on a limited-release water bottle to be distributed to all Devo U-14 and U-19 riders. Winner will also receive five (5) bottles to keep and a Tailwind Nutrition prize pack.

ALL contest participants* will receive a limited-edition Devo kids t-shirt or Devo adult technical jersey

*sizes and colors are limited, while supplies last, local pickup only

TIPS ON PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR SUBMISSION:

  1. Congratulate your child on their hard work and creativity!
  2. Hang artwork on the wall of a room with bright indirect window light (masking tape stuck to the back is perfect!) OR place on a solid-colored flat surface near a window
  3. Fill your smartphone’s frame with the piece, being careful to square it up as well as possible
  4. Avoid shadows or direct sunlight – you may need to play with location and angles for this critical step
  5. Optional: crop in your phone’s native camera app

You’re all done!
