Aubrey Volger: Farewell and Thank You For 17 Amazing Years!

Devo Nation thanks a true Devo Legend for nearly two decades devoted to getting more kids on bikes!

After 17 amazing years with Devo, our beloved, longtime Junior Program Manager, Aubrey Volger, is stepping down from her role. Our entire team, and the whole Devo community, is so grateful for the incredible impact she has made on Devo. As Aubrey says farewell we’re simultaneously sad to lose her leadership on our team and excited to see what lies ahead for her. Thank you, Aubrey, for the years of work and passion you’ve poured into Devo, and for all of ways you’ve left your mark on our Devo-family.

As she moves on to the next chapter, Aubrey wanted to share the following message with the Devo community:

If you’re reading this and you know me, I’ve most likely coached you or your child, coached along side you, or hired you to coach. I started as a volunteer coach with Devo over 17 years ago and in 2013 got hired to manage the Junior Program.

In the last thirteen years of management it’s been an honor to grow with this organization.

I’ve bonded with hundreds of families in our community and to leave my position is not a light decision I make. I have grown and adapted this program to keep up with our ever-evolving mountain bike community. I have taught hundreds of coaches the art of communication, coaching strategy, and ultimately playtime with kids on bikes. I became the first woman in our community to attain the highest coaching certification available at the time, inspiring many women (and honestly male coaches as well) to obtain the same now. I created mentorship programs where older kids coach younger kids, helping them thrive in responsibility. I also established systems that have helped Devo not only maintain to this point, but also look toward growth well beyond this twenty-year anniversary.

In all honesty, there’s grief for me in stepping down and I know the weight of that is a direct reflection of the gratitude I feel for all Devo is, and has been, in my life. I’m stepping away from this management role now to let someone else run with it and bring a fresh perspective to what’s established, and to focus on my own business (let this be a shameless plug that I’m also a massage therapist, which some of you also know).

It is with great honor that I prepare to hand over the wheel to someone who is ready to grow with this amazing organization and fall in love with this community as much as I have.” – Aubrey Volger, Jr .Devo Program Manager

From all of us on the Devo Team: Thank you Aubrey for 17 years, countless amazing memories, and an unfathomable number of “kids on bikes”! We are so grateful for everything you’ve given to Devo, and can’t wait to see everything you achieve next. Thank you for being a part of our Devo family. #nftf
