Introducing Devo’s New Executive Director, Nate Greason

With no further delay, Devo is thrilled to introduce you to our new Executive Director, Nate Greason. Nate rolled into the Devo world as a coach last spring and immediately caught our attention with his rapport with young riders and his obvious passion for adventure, demonstrated by his total willingness to blindly follow a band of rowdy 2nd grade riders through the infamous Tunnels of Doom.

Nate demonstrating feats of strength and leadership to his Devo team

We are excited for Devo Nation to get to know Nate, and eager to share more about his background and resume. However, it’s sometimes the case that small details can be the best indicator of a broader “fit”. In Nate’s case, his unwavering trust in a 10-year old, no-longer-waterproof rain shell as his “absolute favorite” piece of gear, and his self-professed “obsession” with planning group runs, groups rides, and group dinners, clearly demonstrate his pragmatism and commitment to building community – a natural fit for this organization.

Nate grew up on Bainbridge Island, Washington, a small town best-known as the birthplace of Pickleball (Nate does not currently play, having retired after winning his PE class’ tournament in 2005). Coming from a family of adventurers, Nate grew up exploring in the woods with his sister, Mo, and building homemade bike jumps of questionable structural soundness.

Nate as a young cycling adventurer

He went on to graduate from Dartmouth College in 2017. After college, Nate worked in management consulting, political fundraising, and outdoor education before moving to Durango so that his partner (and Devo co-coach!) Annie could pursue a role with Durango’s Adaptive Sports Association. While his range of professional experience certainly prepared Nate for his new role at Durango Devo, it’s his passion for outdoor adventure, cycling, and community-building that make us so excited to welcome him as our Executive Director.

Nate’s continuing adventures on two wheels

Outside of work, Nate likes to bikepack, backcountry ski, scour Facebook Marketplace for good finds, and listen to Blink 182 on repeat to get pumped up for a big run or ride. And while he loves the amazing riding here in Durango, Nate is still enough of an East Coaster to proudly argue that Vermont’s Kingdom Trails are some of the best in the world (and “wildly underrated” by the rest of the country, he claims).

Please join us in welcoming Nate to the team — we are as excited as he is for this new chapter, and can’t wait to see what we build together in 2025!
