The Sweet Elite squad rolled out to a good dusty start to the 2013 season with several victories at the Rumble at 18 Road mtb race in Fruita Colorado. Stephan started things off great with a win in the cat 1 15-18 xc, on a decisive move on the downhill single track. He placed 2nd on sunday in the short track. Payson also took W with a short stack of action packed in the short track. It was whack. A day earlier in the cross country, he rode a great team role with Sepp at 2 minutes up on the field in 1st, only to cover Ben Sonntag’s wheel and eventually catch Sepp in the final mile, to take 2nd to Ben. Sepp finished 3rd after a valiant effort off the front. Alumni Teal won everything. To cap off the weekend, a dust devil, turned wild eyes twister, took to the path of the Devo Van loading in action, and overtook the scene. Onlookers watched as the twister ripped at the Sweet Elites souls then moved on and tipped over the race venues outhouses, one by one. The great race organizers at LTR Sports, the viewers of this race venue spectacle, buckles at the knees with laughter. The riders camped the entire weekend at the venue with the Durango Devo junior team. Good times. Dusty times!
